You're correct in saying the main use is getting people off of deaths door, but she's a capable character if needing to keep everyone at full strength as well. The only downside is she can't heal the character in Rank 4. It's not as good as Vestal or Occultist, for sure, but it's definitely not bad, and is even better if you have Medic's Greaves. I have worked on technical mods before for Crusader Kings II, but this has been my most intensive project to date. Although there are many Abomination skins, it is my favorite class, so I wanted to make art for it.
The Arbalest's Battlefield Bandage is actually not bad if going for a main healing roll with her. I made this to add to the Darkest Dungeon community and to create something that more properly showcases my creative abilities. You can certainly play without Abominations, but they're a very cool class and I'd recomend trying it. This is so, because he ha success to all his abilities already at the beginning of the game, as a result of which you do not need to spend money to test them all. Their in-battle heals may not seem as good as the Vestal's at first glance, but the primary use of such a skill is to get heroes off of death's door, and they do that just fine (plague doctor also removes DoT which is invaluable in some areas). Abomination is a unique class, if compared with the rest of the classes. Both the Arbalest and the Plague Doctor are great camp healers and are more reliable as combatants than the Vestal (and they can be used with the abomination of course).
